SIX GEN ERA

Six Gen Era is a limited run series of prints signed and numbered by Dev Madan celebrating this iconic time in gaming, featuring both fan favorites and hidden gems from the period.

The sixth generation of consoles (1998-2005) was a big turning point in gaming, with four major players introducing consoles that would push the gaming landscape in different ways. Sega started with the Dreamcast in 1999: Complete with online play and controller with a built-in screen, it was unfortunately Sega’s last console. It was followed by Sony's PlayStation 2 in 2000, which could play DVDs, and with it being backwards compatible created a huge library of games, becoming the best-selling console of all time. In 2001 Nintendo launched the GameCube with some amazing first party titles despite a lack of third party support. It was followed by Microsoft with the Xbox- a powerful system with a built-in hard drive and Xbox Live, which helped set the standard for online multiplayer gaming. Each of these systems brought something unique, and together they defined a golden era that laid the groundwork for modern gaming. In total, nearly 180 million consoles were sold across the generation.
